How To Take Care Of Costume Wigs
Cleaning Guide For Your Synthetic Hair Wig

By properly caring for your wig, you will
extend the life of your wig. Having more than one wig
is recommended not only for different hairstyles, but
also to allow the proper time for cleaning and drying
It is recommended to wash a wig after
wearing 12-15 times. However, depending on perspiration,
body oils, pollution and styling product build-up, you
may want to wash your wig more or less frequently.
To reduce the need for washing your wig, make sure you
always keep your own hair clean while wearing it. A
wig cap can also help.
You should only use products formulated
specifically for synthetic and/or human hair wigs. Normal
hair shampoos and conditioners are oil-based and may
coat the wig hair causing it to look dull and lifeless.
1. Undo adjustment straps at back, remove
2. Gently comb out any tangles using your
fingers or a wide-toothed wig comb. Remember always
start at the ends working your way up. Do not use a
3. Fill large container with 2 litres
of COLD water and 1 tablespoon of Wig Care Shampoo specially
formulated for synthetic hair – mix well. Do not
use hot water as it may damage the fiber and remove
4. Immerse the wig in the solution and
gently agitate. Let it soak for five minutes.
5. If the wig or cap is stained with makeup,
apply a paste made out of baking soda and shampoo and
gently scrub with an old toothbrush until clean. Baking
soda is ideal for removing makeup as it cuts through
the heaviest residue without damaging the material.
6. Rinse your wig 3 or 4 times in cool
or cold water until all shampoo is completely rinsed

7. Refill the container with 2 litres
of fresh COLD water and 1 or 2 tablespoons of conditioner
specially formulated for synthetic hair – mix
8. Place the wig in the water and gently
agitate. Let it soak for two minutes. Remove the wig
from the container. Do not rinse, place it on a clean
towel and pat dry.
Do not rub, wring or twist your wig.
9. Place wig/hairpiece on wig stand (preferably
a folding one for better airing) and let it dry. Do
not brush the wig until it is completely dry.
10. Allow it to dry naturally in a COOL
area, away from direct sunlight.
11. When the wig is dry, comb it out gently
layer by layer starting at the bottom and work your
way up. Do not comb Curly wigs. You can use Wig Care
Styling Lotion for a better result.

Important Dos and Don’ts

Expert Styling Tips
Be sure to only use styling tools specially
made for wigs, such as a wig styling comb, wig brush
or detangling brush.

Never use heated styling tools on your wig or expose
your wig to excess source of heat such as: hair dryers,
curling irons, open ovens, boiling water, barbecue grills
and even some cigarette lighters, because the heat will
damage the fibres.
Using your fingertips is best for curly styles. You
can also lightly comb the wig with a wide-toothed styling
comb. A brush is not recommended since it will remove
the original curls.
If your wig has gentle waves or a light curl, you can
use a wig brush or a wig styling comb to style.
For straight styles, us a wig brush or a wig styling
comb, starting at the ends and working your way up.
These styles are quick and easy to manage.

Additional Tips for All Styles:
At the end of the day after each wearing,
be sure to spray the ends of your wig with a conditioner
formulated for synthetic hair and gently remove tangles
with a wig styling comb or your fingertips. Allow it
to dry overnight on a wig stand.

great to try combing them on or off the face for different

To tone down the volume of your wig, mist
